Just wondering whats involved with this conversion? I got a call about a 20V silvertop head, $200. How difficult is this to fit to my 4AGE in my sprinter? What additional parts are involved?

Also... putting 20V quad throttle bodies onto my 16V motor..... need some info aswell.

    cheers,

not sure if they will fit
however if its the other way round

20valve bottom end with 16valve head it works, plus u get a more torque throughout the rev band

Doesn't fit, think of the number of valves vs number of fly cuts in pistons.

At which point you just put the whole 20 valve engine in.

    Additional parts:
    20v ECU
20v harness or plugs to make your harness
hole in firewall or twincoil conversion
    custom bits for water outlets

the pistons dont need to be changed, just becomes an interference engine. As the guys have said its not really worth it.

As for putting quads on your engine you need to either buy the manifold adapter or make one yourself.

Pistons are different. So are the rods as far as I know.

For the same month and year, the 20v 4A-GE has the same crank and rods and bearings as a 4A-GZE. The rods were updated a few times but the 4A-GE and 4A-GZE both got the same. Bearings are the same as in 4A-FE. Oil squirters same in both engines.

The AE101 4A-GZE has the old style AE92/AE86 type sump and baffle and matching block. The AE101 20 valve has a bit cut out of the sump and the matching block. The only reason for this I know of is to clear the transfer case on some 4WD models, just like the AE95 sump/block.
