    Default mr2 aw11

my fellow ae86 people, im helping out a mate whos starting to mod his mr2 aw11

first thing, WHEELS!! what 14', 15' offsets will sit right at the standard guards clearing the usual things you might hit

reason why we are looking for phat rims for the aw11 is that he is getting his fulls and wanting to turbo charge the thing

so second question...his got 4age 100kw in it i believe, what will be needed to turbo it...ECU, a turbo, turb mani, etc...

whats best engine option to go turbo?...buy shit to make the engine compatible with turbo?...i already advised him to get a gze with ecu and loom and drop the badass in with a turbo setup...oh and did those all come with same gearbox for the non SC model and SC?..

let me know what you people rekon, im trying to find a decent mr2 forum but finding a good one with peoples build thread is taking its toll =.='

    thanks again

    turbo option

go get a 4AGZE - from a aw11 if you can and do it that way otherwise you have to rebuild the 4AGE with forged internals where as the AGZE will have them stock.

    toymods is a great site

    hope this helps

The Supercharged one came with a stronger gearbox. The differences are similar with the AE92 GTZ coupe. The normal 4A-GE versions got a regular Corolla gearbox, C52 or similar. The 4A-GZE versions got the stronger E52, E58 or similar gearbox. The E series box has a 4 pinion diff, and a oil pump, and a little oil return loop visible outside the box. The Axles are different also.

It is said that the E series diff in some is LSD, but I can't confirm that yet.

im an aw11 owner, but im makeing a 7age engine as it is very easy and cheap.

as for rims stock is pos38 ish. could go 16 by 7 with a positive 20ish offset with slight guard mods...

16s is the shit, fuck 15s

4agze have forged pistons. other then that its the exact same as the 4AGE version of its same era, eg smallport map gze is the same as a smallport 4age besides the pistons.

Rice86: go on toymods, might get something out of the AW11 Owners Anonymous thread.

as for rims, 15's seem to suit a small car like the aw11. 16's if your looking for a brake upgrade.
for 6.5wide rims, your looking at +32 offset

for 7wide rims, your looking at +36 offset.

Does anyone here understand the different manufacturing process for casting or forging pistons (pictures of either process), the differeneces in strength of materials (using actual stress numbers), and how to determine how a pistons is made from witness marks?
