    Does anyone know how to go about handbrake tightening in a ke30 or a similar car?

    There's a nut on the handbrake lever you can tighten that up OR you can take the drums off and adjust them by turning it(they only spin one way as they are ratcheted) and that will tighten it. Check that you can still freely spin the drum by putting it back on and spinning it with your hands. If you want to back it off to fit new shoes, then just lift the locking mechanism and spin it backwards.

    adjust at the shoes first

    wind the adjuster on the lever almost all the way off, if you go all the way off its too easy to lose the nut

    adjust shoes at the rear like ken said

    then retension nut at the lever until you are happy with the lever travel (how much you pull it up)
