    Ok folks,

I have the poss option to get hold of a Blacktop 20v, all ready to be dropped into my ke70

but the problem is, I just spent a bomb on rebuilding my early largeport (to std spec, nothing special inside) and it also has a set of 45mm OER quads too. (see below).....

    currently how my engine is...

The other problem is, its all fresh, and already in the engine bay and seems a real waste to pull out the 16v and replace with a 20v as my 16v has new belts and all sorts.

So my question is, how great of a leap will me not using my 16v and going BT 20v??

All this will be tun on an aftermarket ecu aswell.

    cheers
    Adam

Seeing all the work thats been done, I would say keep the 16v for sure. If you are chasing some more high rpm power, spend your money on camshafts and cam gears. The main difference the blacktop would give you is higher compression ratio. And the 20v requires more custom parts, which can be good or bad depends who makes them.

That is one very tidy engine bay. All new bolts and hoses. You have an eye for detail more than the average KE70 owner.

Now get a radiator and some plug leads and stop upgrading things you already have! (Note to self there).

    Cheers dudes!

Yeah thats the thing, I have spent alot of time making sure everything is right so it would be a shame to rip out the 16v and replace the 20v for not a huge step in power!

And yeah, in the UK, KE70's (aswell as AE86's) are ALOT rarer than in Aus (plus ALOY more $$$ too) so making sure its all done right makes the fact that I have spent $17,000 on my KE worth it!

i wish I lived in Aus as I bet I could of made this car here for alot less!

I had a big port in my ae82 corolla and my sprinter would tottaly kill it with my 20v, dont know if that helps. Also how the hell is that throttle meant to work? I assume its not connected in the pic

yeah, there is no linkage on that photo.

After the weekend, I will be putting more recent pics up in my project thread as the engine side is 98% complete now, It neede some tweaking and just the wiring to do now!

    Re the 16v vs 20v.

I can see that the 20v is better but is it worth all the hassle considering the time and efforst I have spent on my curent engine, and the overall hassle of tring to sell my current engine to fund it (as I might not get the amount the 20v costs me back??)

I wanted to upgrade to a 20v or 4agze in the future as my aim eventually is around the 165 bhp mark.

u just spent a bomb on rebuilding ur early largeport, though theres nothing special inside, why wanna hassle(not really) to put bt20v, when u have a fresh kind of 16v already in place, on a personal note for me for sure i'll keep the 16v, just wanna give some opinion here, if u still insist to use the 20v then its ur choice, a good choice indeed

    cheers dude
