Well- Whilst assembling my engine, I recentley found out that My engine is somewhat of a hybrid. I have been told that it is a 7 rib block, with the 42mm crank, but it haz gze rods ( which Terry at road and track told me are a bit chunkier than ge ones), gze oil squirters, but High compression pistons. Not bad for an engine that came free with the car. Anyone else come across any weird hybrid engines??

they dont come with the stronger rods gzes have though.... is it a bigport or smallport???

This is a matter for discussion, but I believe (and I think the EPC supports this) that the GE and GZE rods are identical for a given year.
I had a Bigport head with th esame specs as the 100kw bottom end eg 10.5 CR, bigger bearings, 7 rib block but no oil squires and thats how I bought it in a ke70 whick had never been opened up before in it's life.
In japan there are a lot more verations around then in australia...
