just remember camshafts with 9.0mm of lift or above will require some valve train kit, correct me if I'm wrong on this.
I also believe that 264 cams are the most suitable for street use, again correct me if I'm wrong
yeah I'm in the same boat,
I was thinking 264˚ cams, with a high comp piston kit (I think I 11.1:1)
and some ZE injectors,
I wanted to do these so I could still get a farily comfortable on the street

Yes, running big cams will require a shim under kit. And there is a much cheaper option than the TRD shim under kit ($1500 anyone  ). The buckets from newer toyota engines are the same diameter, and they are a single bucket/shim setup (the bucket is also the shim) and when you shim the head you actually order a different thickness bucket.
I am unsure which engine has the same diameter shim/ bucket, but there are several articles I found online that detail the procedure, and one even lists the different thickness buckets and their part numbers, so ordering them though toyota is not a prob.
The beauty of this set up is the new shim/buckets are much lighter than the old setup, and there is no chance of a shim coming unstuck and quickly destroying your valve train, and prob your engine. And at $14 a shim/bucket, it's much cheaper than the alternatives. :2thumbs:
so which yaris engine are you talking about? is it the latest model one?
yeah I think under 8.3 mm lift you can get away with, but over 8.0mm you need h/duty springs
can anyone correct this??
????,..you said under 8.3mm lift should be ok..but over 8.0mm you need support?? did I miss anything?
Well I'm planning a 200hp na build, and I've budgeted for over 5/6k just for parts.
Any articles on the 1SZ FE shim replacements around, could some one link me, I've never built a 4A.
11.3:1 (+), 304* Cams, billet rods, balanced and strengthened crank, Full arp kit, quads and so on....
I gave up on my 7A plan, but I'm still young so I'll do it one day...
