Thread: Steering Lock - Quaife Rack, PS Arms, Tie Rods, Tie Rods Ends

    Hi all,

I'm currently setting up my 86 for Drift and have been trying to get the same amount of steering lock as what Ueo's 86 has.

This is my setup, Everything else is stock:

Quaife 2.5 Quick Steering Rack with 3 Extra Teeth - Extra Teeth cut at a machine shop by a very talented machinist (Couldn't tell there was any work done at all it was such a good job )
New Bearings and Bushes - Geniune Toyota for the Rack Housing
    AE86 Power Steering Arms
Nagisa Auto Ueo Style Tie Rods
Nagisa Auto Ueo Style Tie Rod Ends

Lock to Lock it's only 2.2 Turns which is very good for drift, although I'm not completely satisfied on the Lock I'm getting and I think it has to do with with my remaining stock parts on the car. I think to fix this I need to get some aftermarket lower arms (like Cusco) and NCRAs (T3 or Revolver). I might also need some extra lock spacers from AJPS but I'm not sure if this is going to push my wheels out further and cause problems as the Nagisa Auto Ueo Style Tie Rods I have are already mean't to be longer for more lock. Hopefully after putting these new parts in I will get extra lock I'm looking for. If anybody has some thoughts on this please feel free to comment.

Here are some pics of the lock I'm getting:

I thought it wasn't but after checking again it looks like the inner guard wall is stopping the wheel from turning more. This could be my main problem!

I will be smashing the inner guard wall in on Saturday morning and will post an update of what happens after I've taken some photos.

Thanks for the offer. I'll wait until Saturday before I organise getting the spacers from you.

    Cheers.

not bad for 86 stuff. too much scrub radius with 86 struts in my opinion.

s13 suspension just negates all the expense of exotic japanese 86 parts, and you get more lock. but not to advertise.

is there enough thread on the ueo tie rod ends for a rack spacer?
