BENT MECHANIX - Garage 20:
Update on the car. I've just had 2 weeks off work and got heaps done on the car. Got a 2 1/4" stainless system made up for it, got a nice quiet note to it. Got a 10 point alarm and immobiliser fitted to it. Finally i got all the interior in. The new carpet was a joke, i dont know what car it was moulded for but definatly wasn't an AE86 like it said so alot of cutting had to be done, the underlay was easy however. All of my freshly painted trim went in without a hassle, just had to be careful not to scratch it and snap the brittle bits. I also managed to put the side mouldings on nice and straight using the measurements from the AE86 manual.
Here are some pictures:
Phwoar, looking hot now, how's the exhaust sound?
Yeh the exhaust sounds good, not to loud or droney. I've gotta have a look at the steering rack though something doesn't feel right with it and it shakes at about 60. Anyone have any ideas of what could be the cause??
The raw/polished engine bay is so nice.
marvis.
In order of cheapest to most expensive it could be:
Wheel balance
Wheel alignment
Non hub centric wheels (get centre hub locating rings)
Lower control arm bushes
steering rack bushes
Tie rod's
Steering rack
So finally the car is reasonably complete and I am now driving it on a daily basis and have been noticing a few little flat spots with the car that i have rectified by some re-jetting. Just for people who may be planning to use PHH44s on a 4AGE I am using 34mm outer venturis, 140 main jets, 185 air correctors and 52.5 pilot jets. I found using anything lower in the main circuit leans it out to much and the car splutters and hesitates. However 34mm venturis may be a touch to big so eventually i may try 32mm for a little better air speed at mid range.
Anyways here are a few pictures that it took on the weekend of how the car looks now:
think ive seen this floating around cambeltown area? looks the goods
"the magic formula for gravel rallying: 1000kg, 300hp and 4 cylinders."
Car looks awesome, very nice and clean.
Random question though, do you mean to have your reverse lights disconnected?
