I don't know why, there is nothing wrong with the small port!
easier to get the head cleaned up, makes more power!
bigport is only sort of better is your going to boost it (I think)
hey guys, just wondering what are the pros and cons about these 2 beautiful engines. what is everybody running these days and WHY. correct me if im wrong but i think most people go for bigport 7 rib?
EDIT: 20v silver/black tops?

30kw club
bigport easier to install
smallport harder to install
7rib bigport best base motor for a tuf NA build
my trueno has a smallport and mr2 has a bigport 7 rib.... im building a 7age for my mr2.... i will be using a smallport head on the 7age. after driving both, smallport is far better imho.
lol at white people in japan. just lol.
the intake holes on the big port are larger when you compare the sizes to the small port. I assume that this helps for more airflow if you decide to turbo it etc. I know on phil bradshaw's page he explains it in further detail as to why its better.
the small port has a stronger block and has more power output as a stock NA.
blue top (big port) 88kw vs. red top (small port) 100kw
but blue tops are far more common, cheaper and apparently easier to install into an 86.
not planning to boost. On P's so NA POWER ! lols is it hard to convert tvis onto smallport? cost?
tvis is shitty (This Version Is Shit)
the small port is a better design which eliminates the use of tvis

as Leo said... TVIS was shit, so on all the newer 4age engines after the bigport it was deleted.
by designing a decent head (for stock applications) on the smallport, it is better than a bigport with tvis.

screw big and small, bring on the hybrids.
