Replace spark plugs at least.
It will be a cunt to start, start ya bastard is a must.
I'm just getting my 4-ac engine ready to be put in, but it hasn't been used for about 4 years. ITs been kept under cover so no rain has gotten to it, but the pulleys have surface rust on them.
I'm using rust converter on them, cleaning them up and repainting them, and replacing the water pump gasket. I am also replacing the fan belt and timing belt. Is there anything else i should check/ replace? I turned the engine over by hand and it seems fine, albeit stuff from not being moved in so long.

You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?
Not unless you want to strip it to see how much has rusted in the valves/bore area.
A quick head strip will allow you to put the valves in a drill and polish them with a bit of 320 sandpaper in oil/kero, and then lightly grind them back in, and you can see if teh bores have surface rust that needsa quick hone off.
Worst case will be the rings gummed up so they wont float and oil just pours out the exhaust.. happened to me years ago.
mehhh, its a 4ac. not a highly modded 4age
whack the barsted in and drive it till it pops. then go down to the wreckers and pick up another 4ac for a slab of beer! :p

Correct.
And worse case, you put it in and it doesn't kick into life... which I doubt would happen. Then you can still take the head off in the car and do all that if you need to. Or if its too far gone and has to come back out again you'd lose half a day tops?
