i dont think its as bad as people make out. just drop the steering column, two bolts and thats down. then you unbolt it all and it comes out pretty easy.

It is honestly easier than most say it is.
No need to take the dash out at all, as long as you are willing to work upside down and get your hands into some tight spaces.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?
when i tried to get it out, it kept getting caught on the wiring loom.
ended up ripping the dash out in the end, made it that much easier to do.
Like Javal said, as long as your willing to work upside down its just a bit fiddly. Take the drivers seat out so you can lay down properly in there. We ended up using a hole saw to punch through one of the fan ducts to get the final bolt out as it was a bitch and we didnt wanna take the whole dash out. Just be patient and be willing to spend a bit of time on it!

i take back what i said it is possible to take it out with out taking out the dashboard i just did
