    hey all putting a new motor in my ae71 and cant get the auto box back onto the engine, the torque converter just wont go on the spline, and reason y?

    the torque coverter has three parts to line up, drive spline, stator spline and oil pump key way, make sure the converter goes on all three stages on to the auto box first then chuck the auto up to the motor.

    if you look into the torque converter you will see the 3 splines inside, the one at the very back will appear to be floating..

    put on the first spline, keep turning it with pressure till it pops into the second and then third.
    jiggle jiggle!

    as a rough guage, imagine the converter housing to fit snug into the bell housing without hitting it.

    the distance from the box bolt up holes on the engine + driveplate/flex plate, shoould be roughly same distance as the back of the torque converter where the plate bolts too, to the edge of the box bell housing

    everything should just fit together nicely.
