    Hi Guys,
I have been lurking around here for a little while now and I thought that I had better put a few words up. A bit of background on myself, I have been racing cars on and off for about 10 years now with my last car being a Turbo MX-5 Clubman. When I got back from OS last year I decided that it was time to build another one (sometimes I think this bit is better than the driving). So I sold the MX-5 and after looking around for a clean MK1 Escort shell and having zero luck my neighbour kindly sold me a very straight KE70 Auto that I converted to a manual and ran a practice day in before heading OS again for work (I am still OS at the moment). While I was looking around for a 4AGE engine package for the KE70 I came across this part complete project. We negotiated a price and now it at a friends workshop. I still haven't seen the car and won't for probably another 6 weeks or so when I get home but I have attached a couple of photos that a mate took.

Plans for the car will be a track/hillclimb car with around 150rwkw.

The car will be setup to the usuall specs:

Coilovers on the front with 6kg springs and 4kg on the back with kyb shocks

Corona Diff with disc brake rear

    Vented disc on the front

    4AGZE bottom end

    T25G turbo

    T50 with HD clutch

    Decent drivers seat

The car came with strut braces for the front and rear so they will go on.

Allready have an Adaptronic to fit up to the thing.

I won't be bothering to fit a body kit but the bonnet was missing so a fiberglass one will probably be the got.

Tyres will probably be 15x8 superlights for 15x7 Rewinds with R-spec rubber still trying to work out what is best, my heart says the superlights.

The thing has the usual rust in it that will get fixed but for the most part it is neat.

The car will be engineered and registered. I think that is about it, should be a decent little car. I will update with photos as the guys progress with the car, one good thing about having great mates is that they love working on cars so much that they will do it for you while you are away.

    Cheers
    Paul

Ok time for a quick update, I have have just gotten around to taking photos but the list of stuff done so far is:

Turbo mounted on the KElway Manifold, we had to cut and shut the manifold to clear the dizzy

Oil and water lines run for the turbo

Modified the wastegate to suit the top mount turbo

dump pipe made with O2 sensor bung so that I can run a wideband for data logging

Heavy Duty Exedy clutch fitted with machined flywheel, the hub for the throw out bearing was missing so I had to order a new on from toyota

Did up custom water pipes for the thing as it was a bare block

Mounted the inlet manifold and polished up the fuel rail and fitted that up

    Dropped the engine back in

Mounted up the intercooler, pipework should be done in the next couple of days

Made up a 3" mandrel bent exhaust for it with a hooker muffler

Started wiring up the Adaptronic on Saturday with the coils, map sensor, injectors and relays all done, just have to do the CAS and try and find a plug for the TPS and we should be in business. The car gets on a truck on Thursday to make it's way to Canberra so it is a bit of a race against the clock.

    Cheers
    Paul

Ok guys it has been a while since I updated the thread. I have started painting and should have it finished at the end of next week cause I have got a week off work. The suspension is coming along quite well but I am just waiting to get a set of T3 strut tops from the states so that I can bolt the coil overs up. At the moment it just has the bigger Corona discs and calipers but when I upgrage the master cylinder i will step up to vented with 4 pots. Still haven't got it tuned yet but I guess that will come in time.

whats the coil over set up? dampner/spring (brand/lenght) and sleeve kit?

you might have trouble with the spring hat fouling your strut tops, not too hard to sort out though.

looks like neat work so far. not a bad colour, bit like my old one

The springs are 4.5kg or there abouts and the shocks are KYB Excel G's out of an MR2 I think so there are a fair bit shorter. I think that you may be right with regards to the spring hat but I won't know until I get the strut tops hopefully sometime this week.

The colour is not too bad it is a Mazda one called Skyish Blue. I was hopeing for a slightly darker shade but that will have to do.

    Cheers

Ok so got a bit more done this week. All I have to do is to start the rear suspension now and it should be right to go back on its wheels. I hope that you like the photos.
