    whats the question though?

having a HIGHER diff ratio (ie 4.7 as opposed to 3.9) will make your fifth gear seem to be more like your old 4th (as in you will use more revs at lower speeds)

$th is direct drive (1:1) with will be something like .89:1

If you have changed your diff ratio (from the s series 3.9 ratio to a T series 4.1) your revs will be higher in every gear but more noticable because your cruising. 5th normally only drops your revs by 500rpm max

my Question is: A short 5th gear is it a good idea??....as that ae86 is not for top speed IMO..,,most likely hill climb/drift.

so a short 5th gear will help hill climb/drift??

i know this setup will kill the petrol...hehe

    you serious mate,

top of 4th is pretty quick with a 4.1, 3.9 and when would you need to use 5th gear if not just crusing around?
5th is pretty short anyways why would you bother going to the effort of changing it.
