i run 9's on rear of mine
14x9-15
stick out 2cms
and with 8.5's just run 3 deg camber and close to zer or -15 at most
What kind of offset would be reasonable for a 8 1/2" or 9" rim on an ae86, without having to go N2 spec flares. Looking to keep steel guards just hand flare them to their maximum flarage and still have a bit of tyre extend past the guard.
Don't want to rush into buying new wheels and have the offset be way too big or too small.

just orded 15x9 -3.
my guards are flared heaps. might have to run a spacer to get them where i want them.
If you think about it. 15x7 0 offset sits flush with stock guards, flared guards, gives you another 20mm? So a 15x9 0 offset will be another 25.4mm wider each side. So you've just filled flared guards. And depending on offset. Ie: -15. You're wheel should be roughly(Gives or take a few mill, assuming the width of the wheel is actualy 9 inches) about 40.4mm (1.59 inches) wider on the outside face. So should clear flared guards by around about 20mm.
Don't hold me to anything I say. I'm usually wrong.
Edit: Wow, just pretty much answered my own question.

As I said, don't hold me to anything. Just taking a rough guess at most of it.
Nar you're right, as it makes my guess a little more accurate
