I dunno, I just can't see it working. You can't always take a successful overseas show, lob in a few locals and expect it to be as good.
Sorta like when Iron Chef America came out, it was so ghey- 2 weeks later SBS put the original Japanese version back on. Also, I can't see an Aussie top gear getting their hands on the serious equipment (think Bugatti Veyron, Pagani Zonda etc.) when if the cars get here at all, its already 6-12 months later than overseas, by which stage everyone's already seen a review.
