Thread: gze and boost guage

<strike>it is possible to put a blow off valve on a supercharged gze?

ive noticed that when changing gears that my cars usually revs 1000+rpm higher than when i wanted to change it (eg. change at 3000rpm and it revs to 4000rpm when i push my clutch in).

is there anything i can do to stop this?</strike>

    new question

i do have a boost guage. it reads in the INHG zone for the vaccum when idle. 1 PSI = 0.49 INHG approx. it reads at 22 INHG at idle which is about 11 PSI. when i rev the engine it goes up progressively and when im about to shift at 6000rpm its usually in the PSI zone at 3 PSI. i dont think its reading correctly because i feel the boost even at low revs.

im currently after an omori boost guage as a replacement (im a perfectionist and want all my guages black with green lighting...) which reads in Bar. i understand Bar measurements 15 PSI = 1 Bar approx so ill give new readings after that

i hate to say the obvious, but best to check, are you leaving your foot on the accelerator too long?!

as for blow off valve, i didnt think you needed it since the supercharger doesn't continue to spool, as the revs drop, so does the boost, therefore no need to release pressure?

also do they come stock on gze? if not then you prolly dont need it!

i could be talking non-sense though!

Yes they do come stock. Remember the throttle is before the charger, so it is going to suck in air...

doesnt come stock on a gze - as far as i know, but jason says otherwise

ive got an aftermarket pully kit on my engine as the only mod.

as with leaving my foot on the throttle for too long it may be a possibility but when i dont even push my clutch in it still continues to rev for a little bit and then drops after i release the throttle pedal

The bypass valve is called ABV. If you want to run more boost, you have to block the abv/keep the abv shut (otherwise it bleeds the boost to factory levels).

My gze does the same thing when changing gears, ive modded the abv so i can run more boost. (not a problem and quite normal).

Just wondering how you mod the ABV, Nikkojoe?

Will I be able to take the whole ABV off and plate it off? Is it wise to do

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (HiroShiFumi @ Dec 10 2007, 06:52 PM) </div>There are guides on the net which show you how to mod it.

There are 2 parts to the abv (one a blue vsv and another brown/red vsv - brown/red can be removed and plated). Remove the blue vsv, and run the vac line from the brown/red vsv to a boosted line (ie the map sensor line which comes from the intake manifold).
