Seems boned... if you need everything done legit. Best to check around though and see what other people have done in this kinda situation. It cant be a 1st.
Hey guys,
Think I just made a pretty serious mistake. While drilling holes for my mounts for the wiring loom, it seems as though I've brushed the VIN plate with the drill. Now there is some serious scarring and there is no reminence of the 6 in the actual VIN code (AE86XXXXXX), and the C from 4A-C is gone in the engine code. Like, completely gone, both figures.
Is it likely that I won't be able to get a RWC for this vehicle because of this? Should I just stamp in a new figure where it's gone?
Pretty scared right now.

Where will it stop? Will it ever be finished? How will it go? Why am I not wearing any pants?

4agte finally finished. 252rwkw with more to come
If its badly mutned you might be able to apply for "Surrogate Plates"
I bought a car that had been stolen previously - someone ground the engine numbers off the block so they gave it a "Surrogate Engine Number"
Dunno, ring your Transport Authority and ask...
depends really where you get the car inspected?
A local servo etc, wouldn't give a shit really, providing you still have the rego papers with the Full number on it, as they will match the VIN # that is STAMPED on the body........
But a RTA inspection station will proberly try to screw you. Thats what they do best....
How on earth did you manage to do this anyway? Are you drilling blindfolded? Or drunk? lol lol
Got a photo?

in wa you can get a permit to drive the car without the plates as long as you have proof of ownership. it not that bad really...
ITs probably stamped on the body too, and possibly on the compliance plate that Toyota adds to the car when it lands in Australia. Using these and the VIN no. that the vehicle is registered with, transport authorities should be able to get you some form of replacement plate or documentation stating that it is the case. Would be best to give you local authority a call and see what they can do for you
4AGE is here! Cheers 44GTE and Anthony for your help! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/fo...ad.php?t=10384

Bugger it, I'll keep building it and will talk to QLD DoT on Monday. The engine code isn't a worry since I did a conversion and I'd have to get that plated anyway, and surely I could get an engineer to see that the chassis codes on the VIN and the chassis actually match, look up the corresponding VIN and put that on a mod plate. I'm just going to get rid of the rest of the oxidisation on the VIN plate anyway and try and stamp in a 6 to the VIN and a C to the engine code, looks like 6mm lettering anyway. Meh, will find a way around it.

further relief might come from the fact that the two characters you erased are the SAME on ALL adm sprinters. so if you were a crook, youd be the dumbest one ever, having disguised nothing lol.
