    hey guys,

I am just after some help in setting my valve timing on my 4a SOHC, after replacing my headgasket.

It's idleing at 1600rpm and used, wait for it, QUARTER OF A TANK of fuel and i only drove it 25km!!!!!
It runs smoothly tho, no missing/spluttering... I am guessing the Valve timing is advanced.......

I dont have a 4a manual, and i dont know what marks/positions that i need to set. I have never done this before, so make it simple for me....

    Much appriciated,

    J Riftin

you sure you dont have a fuel leak?

if it was using that much fuel i would be chugging black smoke and probably wouldn't even run

but, the 0 mark on the crank should be on the marker and there should be a mark on the cam pulley that should line up with the backing plate. ive not done a 4ac head, but most engines are like this, 4age's are

when you took the carby off you didn't shake it around or turn it upside down or anything like that. didn't mistreat it. accelerator pump could be jammed open. maybe get another carby or overhaul yours.
