The ST185?
In my 22 I'm running SW20 Rears in the front, cant remember what length they were though
Hey guys, I have some AJPS 8kgmm 210mm free hight front springs, What shocks would suit. ei. what part number of from what car would suit in terms of being short enough to keep the springs captive and preferably suitably valved to suit the springs. Its for a AE86 with standard struts.

Yep, ST185s. The Celica shocks are slightly shorter than the MR2s.

Cool thanks guys
with my 210 8kg springs im running kyb agx that i got from ajps with the t3 spacer.
prior to the t3 spacer i was running a spacer below the shock, but it didn't feel right. not only that the spring was far from captive.
now with the t3 spacer sits better, feels better and the spring is still uncaptive but not far off being captive
I have the same front springs, 8kg/mm x 210 free height, from AJPS.
I use HTS102 dampers with a spacer beneath them, in a full length strut (ie uncut). The spring is not quite captive, but almost. My rubber spring seats have deteriorated, but with them I dare say it would be captive.
However, the HTS has a stroke approx 25mm shorter than your celica items, so as others have said, I doubt yours will be close to captive with 210mm springs
what dont you like about the T3 spacers Dave?
Skit: I think in real world use its not the free height that determines if the spring will be captive or not, its the shock extended lenth and the ride height. I am using 180mm 4.9kg free height springs and they are captive.

8kg is fairly stiff. I think it would go beyond the capability of any regular non-adjustable shock. So you need a good quality shock, with adjustment.
As for fitment, any of the short shocks talked about. ST185, ST162, SW20 rears, AE92 Japan or USA version etc. Maybe use a 30mm spacer at the bottom, and a 30mm spacer at the top.
