Extra lock spacer

hi, i have been looking around and i came across extra lock spacer. i'd like to ask how to they work and how would i install them. can i just get any spacer or is it specially designed?

its a really easy install. goes on passenger side of the actual rack itself. u will notice teh rack end hit the rack housing on full lock. so there is more teeth on the rack itself but it cant be used as the rack end stop it from turning further so the spacer just gives u that extra 15mm for the rack to fully turn. i got a ajps spacer if u want one

the last few lines don't make any sense in that tech article Sam, if you need to shorten AE86 tie rods by 8mm, why would you put a RA40 in which is longer?
