Does the smoke sort of look like steam? If so then it is most likley time to change your head gasket and maybe get the head refaced and pressure tested

the colour of oil smoke varies on tempreture, perform a comp test then a leak down test and u will end up with a result.

does the amount of smoke become mre when driving harder?

    i got the same problem.
white blue smoke and water blow out the exh pipe when engine is on, more comes out when higher rev.
    does this indicate bad rings?
haven't done a compression test yet.

also found some oil on the spark plug when i took them out.
could this causing by old valve stem seals, thus leaking oil into the combustion chamber?
other than this, is there any chance that the oil leaks from somewhere else of the head above into the chamber?
it is better not the rings...

    any1?

Yes it is possible for oil to be leaking from you're valve stem seals they are alot easier to change than you're rings its a very common problem for smoky engines.

check oil pressure first then do a compression test, it could be as simple as no pressure for the oil.

    i could be wrong

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (yuk86 @ May 2 2008, 08:32 PM) </div>If you had "no pressure for the oil." you would have more problems than just some smoke out of the exhaust!

put 40w/70 hpr 50 in and see how you go
thats what i run on my 4ac

after idling for a while and drive off and a plume of blue smoke comes out thats valve stem seal
if it comes out always and even more so when you thrash it, its either SUPER fucked valve stem seals or more than likely rings r shot
if you have yuk86 mentioned LOW oil pressure liek when from idling and then lifting off then smoek will come out also

putting in a thicker grade mineral oil will not only increase overall oil pressure, it will bleed slower from the rings and stem seals giving you less oil loss and yes, less smoke too
