Nice thread,I got my car passed with a 4agze with Coilovers,Recaros and nardi wheel had to stuff around a bit but no real big dramas,Got the whole car engineered for $500 bucks.Passed second go.It pretty much went down as you stated.
With the 4age its pretty easy as the engine size is still a 1.6 twin cam or not,The real issues are the emmissions for the efi EG..petrol filler neck needs to be changed to a vented rattle cap(Just cut one of a camry and fit in stock rubber joiner) and all the carbon canister junk needs to be working as well as a new catalitic convertor just get the bolt on and off type,Sometimes they ask to see a emmission chart on how much fule it burns...Sometimes...(Just go to your local dyno and get one while u get a tune)The car has to be pretty much stock as it came out in japan.Ohh and make shure your belts are in good nick and the damb handbrake works 100% on either side,You might have to weigh the car on the weigh bridge aswel. It pays to fit the jap brakes and rotors just for saftey sake.

advan86 - This is more for the South Australian boys mate (Guessing by your engineering costs you're not from SA ). We have a much harder time getting our cars engineered, very very costly. This way for us means no engineering, more so just getting the engine ticked off and legally registered with the car through our poor excuse for a Transport system.
I Regency.
NOOOOOOOOT.
Yeah mate i live in adelaide S.A,But i knew the engineere so that helped alot.
