Just on mind mind whilst I was playing with my Sprinter, what engine would you prefer in your car?? whether is a CA, SR, 20V, 4age etc...

Do you believe that converting your Toyota into an "inbreeding" machine by doing an conversion with a Nissan, Rotor etc... engine Increases or Decreases the value of the car?? there are a lot of Toyota freaks out there who are totally against the whole conversions (keep it Toyota bullshit!)

Whats your opinion??, just want to listen to peoples point of views, DISCUSS!!

Inbreeding decreases value, but (mostly) increases effectiveness

Whether it be engines, gearboxes, diffs, etc

I'm sure that a sr30det or 13b in an 86 is worth more then just a basic 4ac or 4age....it will decrease if its for a collector or something but other then that i think increase

Engine conversions don't value add. Mods in general don't. End of story.

As for what engines I'd prefer...

    T18, TE71 levin - 3T-G*
    KE70 - 3T-G*, 4A-G , Hot 4K, or PP na rotor (12A my main preference there).
    AE86 - 4A-G

    Thats my personal preference.

*given the age of the 2T-G, may as well rebuild and go out past 1.8 with the 3T bottom end these days.

When talking about cars from a collectable value I think any car that has been modified from standard wouldn't be worth shit to a collect. Collectors want unmodified original spec cars, they don't want some think that has got bits from other cars in it.

As for my preference at the end of the day what engine will get you want you want with your budget, I don't see what the big deal about putting in another makes engine in the car is to some people, I would much rather have something that is going to deliver want I want rather then having to spend big on something which will still not delivery and cost alot more in the process.

When I do an engine conversion, I will be going either CA/sr or 3sg unless I get a cheap 4ag to throw in if the 4ac dies while wait for either of them

i personally believe that if you have a JDM you leave it with the original 4ag block. other than that do whatever you like.

if youre planning on something other than a 4ag in an ae86 may aswell grab an adm and chop that baby up

Of course you will. You may not get back all the cash you put in, but it will certainly be more valuable than the average stock/4AGE KE.

I think when the car isn't particularly valuable in the first place, modifications and engine conversions do add value. I'd pay up to 10k for a rotary swapped AE86, but no more than 7k for a 4AGE converted ADM model, for example.

However, genuine JDM cars, IMO, retain their value best when kept original.
