Default The end of an era (well for me anyway =P)

Some will know this and others not so much, but my last 86 met its untimely end when it decided to try driving on its roof for a change...

We begin our story one very rainy day when the car in question was being driven from a restaurant a couple of the gang had been to, in it was me and a chick from work I was driving home.

Because of the rain some mud had formed on the side of my lane. But unfortunately it was nearly the same colour as the road itself, also due to the rain I couldn't/didn't see it... I slowed down normally for the corner and then

Attack of the understeer! I slid onto the edge of the road at no more than 10km/hr (absolute max), but due to the angle of the steep ditch and the low speed (car not leaving the ground etc) the car slowly rolled onto its roof =(

Now I know a lot of people say that accidents seem to be in slow motion, but this one actually WAS in slow motion, had their been a bike lane or a guard-rail the car would be fine today, but I wasn't that lucky. However because it happened so slowly neither of us were hurt at all... (in fact the biggest injury was when the chick undid her seat belt not realising it was holding her in the seat and fell onto the roof) So in that way we were very lucky, if the ditch had been even deeper again etc we may have been in more trouble.

Funnily enough seeing it upside down showed how good condition the running gear was in, the underside was very clean, even the g/b and sump etc. Also none of it seemed to be damaged, even the cooling system wasn't harmed.

Its sad to see it go, however I have found a very suitable shell to accept its running gear...

That's right, Minihorse's old JDM GTV Levin!

I'll be starting to swap parts over to the new shell as soon as work gives me a chance and a lot of parts will go up for sale as I will practically have 2 of every part of running gear, some of those parts will include a diff with 2 way mech center and the engine from minihorse's car (cams and all) So keep a look out for bits and if anyone has specific requests pm me

oh and by the way, work moved me again, sorry I didn't get to meet too many vic people this time around, I am now living 1/2 out of Canberra (We'll have to catch up steve!)and 1/2 out of Sydney.

well, it took me a few years to kill this one...

and the first one was on its death bed from cancer... it was just taken off life support so I could use the parts on the new one

But don't worry, I have no intentions on falling in any more ditches

in a slightly related topic does anyone know a way to beef up the wipers?
