4age oil system.

Hi, guys new to the forum.
I need some help with my 4age build-up.
I have always used bigport and I am running into a few issue's,
building a smallport engine, I have a 7rib block that I have brand new internals in but it has no oil return pipe or squirters like my other block.
Can I still use a smallport head on this????????

youve got an early ae92 block.

the drain/breather at the back of the head you can plumb into the sump id say, as long as its above oil level. you may even be able to just block it off. as the oiling for the head is the same as BP, oil drainage wont be an issue. it is my understanding that external connection is more of a breather than a drain, though obviously some oil does return down it.

the oil squirters i am not so sure on. i guess it depends what rods/pistons/wrist pin set up you have/intend to use maybe.

the squirters to my understanding serve 2 purposes. one is piston cooling, the other is maybe oiling of the little end (full floating in any oil squirter type engine, press fit in all non oil squirter blocks)

Yeah my idea was to run a hose into a small oil catch can that would sit a few mm above the pipe and any excess could just run in and back out as it wants.
I just wanted to know if it was super important thanks!
