    Question

After being stalled with my project for so long, I became weak and purchased another AE86 to drive while the other was completed.

So after a long trip up from the Gold Coast, it finally sat in the driveway.

First order of business was to remove the locked diff for road worthy.

Then clean up the engine bay wiring, restrain the pod and put in a new battery.

I had some crappy offset rims that no one wanted to buy off me, so I put them to good use.

And then went off to get some plates.

I got in touch with Steve, one of the only other AE86 drivers in the area and we went for a cruise.

Here's some videos of the "action", hah.

On the way back from that trip however, the locked diff came back to bite me.

There was some weld slag still hiding in the axle tubes that came free and jamed up the gears.

Once it was back together I resumed my exploration of the backroads.

After getting used to it all, I put some nice comfy SW20 seats in.

A localÂÂÂ#annual cruise event was organised, so I went along too.

Steve was out of town, so we had our own little cruise the week after.

The weather wasn't quite as nice.

    Good for pictures!

But not for down hill runs.

    And here is it's specs:

    AE82 Bigport 4AGE 16v w/Modplate
    JDM RWD Intake Plenum

    That's so fat!

It looked mean in my rear vision mirror. Sounds mean too. Couldn't hear my own car when you overtook me, and that's saying something!
Flat out its also a tad quicker than my weighed-down with luxuries and floor rubbish coupe. Handles the rougher roads better too with the softer springs.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>Yeah, it's got some dings in the passenger side and a spot of rust under the rear bumper. Doesnt really bother me, but once the main project is done I'll touch this one up.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>I don't want to spend much money on this one as I need it to finish my other one... but eventually I would like to put a T-Series & LSD in it.
The open diff is getting annoying and with all this rain we're having putting the locked diff back in would be unwise.

I got the car for $4900 and freighted it up to my door for $1100... Then all the costs involved with passing the RWC and getting Rego.

    Just thought I'd update.

I had alittle too much fun couple of months back which resulted in this...

No, I didn't hit the tree...! But I got stuck in the ditch.
And because the car still has a standard s-series I couldn't get out as one wheel was off the ground! :angry2:
After about 5min the police turned up, towed me out - and sent me on my way... was abit of a shock, but I was thankfull none the less.

So anyway, this just made me want to go out n get a LSD more than ever.
And along with a drift day coming up soon here in Cairns I decided to go on a T-18 hunt!

And successfully nabbed me this ugly duckling.

I then bought a zenki TRD 2-way to get me drifting (err... spinning out) like the pros!
While I was feeling productive I removed the bumpers to fix up the slightly bent mounts...

And I gave em a new coat of black paint while I was at it.

Then I moved on to taking the diff out of the T-18. That was a bastard of a job...
25years of dirt and oil baked onto the thing! The bolts DIDNT want to move.

The wheel bearings are rooted, one oil seal is gone and the condition of the drums was questionable.
So I took it in to get reconditioned on Monday. Final cost was pretty scary... and I still have to get some good oil (thinking Penrite)

    Toyota T-18 $300.00
    Renting Trailer $150.00
    TRD 2-way LSD $473.20
    Rebuilding diff $677.80
(Welding on mounts, replacing all axle seals and wheel/pinion bearings, removing open centre, shimming collapsible spacer, installing LSD centre)

    TOTAL = $1601

So when you guys see a JDM disc brake rear end for sale at $1400, stop being tight and just buy the bloody thing!!!

My rebuilt T-Series from the T-18 (With added TRD 2-way LSD!)

Excuse me, do you know what you're doing under there?

Try not to touch your newly painted bumper bar!

    *Scorpion voice* "Get Over Here!"

The operation was a success! The open diff now seperated from Kor!

Had a couple of dramas. But nothing major.
One: swaybar mounts don't line up - so taking it back tomorrow to get one cut and re-welded.
Two: handbrake cables too long - I was freaking about this one for a while until I had a brain wave about 20min ago...
Now I've got a bunch of washers spacing out the adjusting nuts on the handbrake lever end to effectively pull tight(er) on the cable!
Three: I suck at bleeding brakes!

PS. anyone know exactly how much oil a T-Series takes?
I just filled it up till it started coming back out - but I was on a incline so I think more than nessacary went in...
