    Default 4AC-4AGE Conversion

Did a quick search and nothing came up, I'm a total noob to this site.

    Car = ADM sprinter
    Engine = 16v 4age in FWD format c/w with loom & ECU

I understand i'll need an intake.

What do I keep from the 4AC?
ie, stater motor, Alt, clutch and flywheel?
Can I use the stock clutch fan for the rad?
    Will ADM T50 mate up?
Will ADM gearbox input shaft work with FWD clutch and flywheel?

Please if you know or have done this conversion answer my question.

    Al.

keep the 4ac untill the conversion is complete for when you need random bolts

ie, stater motor, Alt, clutch and flywheel?

you need a 4age alternator, clutch and flywheel, none will fit from 4ac to 4age. any 4a starter will do the job, if your 4age came with one use that, if not use the 4ac one.

Can I use the stock clutch fan for the rad?

not advisable unless you get a proper RWD water pump, as apparnetly the rwd water pumps will flog out due to the added pressure/vibrations of the fan. better to just get a thermo fan and wire it to the automatic temperature switch on the 4age.

    Will ADM T50 mate up?

yes, you will need a spiggot bearing for your 4age crank (like $7)

Will ADM gearbox input shaft work with FWD clutch and flywheel?

yes assuming they are 4age items, not 4ac

and you are allowed to reply once you have read all of this

For what I typed into search engine it turned up jack.
    Thanks for the link though.

I must be really shit at the search engine.
I can't find any articles on what to do to mod a FWD ae82 loom.
Mostly I just find stuff for sale???

What do you exactly want to mod? If you just want to get it working there isn't much to do. Read the link that slide86 gave, it includes my wiring guide for a bigport....

To do it properly its not a simple process. As such there aren't any guides.

As Nikkojoe said, its possible to get it working without many mods to an AE82 loom. But it'll generally look pretty arse in your engine bay unless the entire loom is stripped apart and reworked.

    I've done other conversions, did my mates 1UZ 2wd hilux, 808 1300 - injected 13B to name a few...
I just wanted to ask those in the know what to look out for.

I was checking out my loom today and I notice that the 14P plug is missing?
I definitely need this plug yeah?
    What is it used for?

Also mounted to the ECU cradle is an open circuit relay? i think
    This one

    What is this used for?

There is no loom or plugs supplied to fit this...do I need it?

Where is a good place to mount the ECU?

Also, I was looking at the RWD 4AC water pump vs FWD 4age, and noted that the FWD has no thermostat supplied (AE82 has remote thermostat) however the RWD 4AC water pump rear housing has a thermostat. The only thing is that the outlet will not clear the ALT unless I either get a different outlet made up or I make a new longer top ALT braket...OR swap sides
I tried the 4AC top ALT bracket, and it would nearly work, needs to be couple of cm's longer for adjusting belt tightness.

Any help will be of much appreciation!

that thing on the back of your ecu is called your "circuit opening relay"

its the relay to control your fuel pumps, so that when the engine stops running the fuel pumps will stop.

grab an electrical diagram from somewhere, the wiring is fairly simple. and yes you need it.

the14 pin plug is for all the powers, and yes you need it. its what most (if not all) the wires you need to connect to make the engine run.

i belive you can get one from an oldish camry that will do the job, have a search around someone was talking about it somewhere not long ago (on this forum, or possibly rollaclub)
