both run aisan carbs, but I'd have at a guess, the 86 might have a few extra circuits/vacuum systems for the later emissions it would have to run.
but it should be a good comparison for whats goind wrong
Hey everyone.
Does anybody have any information about the 4A-C's stock carburettor? like diagrams or good reference photos, or any information about swapping them between the sprinters, ae71s and ae82s. Any information at all would be appreciated.
I am having trouble getting my 1983 adm ae86 running well with my 4A-C, I noticed that some of the little linkages and thingos on the carby are loose so i am thinking of changing the carby to one off my 84 AE71, which seems cleaner and linkages are tight. The car is an hours drive away so i can't go and compare the carbys at the moment but by memory they seem slightly different. The car starts with some trouble and with avgas down its throat but once its started it wont idle and seems to be spluttering and wont build rpm. i have changed the dizzy cap , leads, fuel filter and thats it.
cheers, mark. :2thumbs:
