well it is not the money thats for sure.

especially now i am a student. this car will be completely funded by the sale of my current car.

minus cash frittered away on trying to maintain some level of enjoyable lifestyle whilst austudy is my sole income.

fortunately my many "calculations" (wish list/day dreaming notes) indicate this is quite achievable.

anyways plans for this weekend are to have the shell gurneyed, tires mounted to rear rims, have the rear axle and front end set up trail fitted to asses guard modification requirements.

if i can manage all that there will be some mock up photos pretty soon, which i am thinking are going to become a pretty solid motivational tool.

Sounds good Dimitri!! Hearing that you are now also a student and building an AE86 is an inspiration to me as I am doing the same thing

I look forward to seeing this build progress.

thanks for hooking him up man, appreciate it.

    3s yeah.

i am basically going to build the whole car first as a roller with no motor. depending on how much cash i have left over will determine which version of 3s i use, but it is likely going to be NA. that is all way down the track though.

there are some features i want from day 1. and others i may leave out and do at a later stage just to get the car on the road.

i want to make a noticeable increase in chassis rigidity. more roll stiffness. put some effort into correcting the rear suspension geometry and design. and just generally a sharper and more responsive feel to the car. also want to do as much as i can to reduce weight without making the car too illegal.

    no wakkas dude,
i didnt know it was orestes i thought you had another brother or something.

anyhoo hope your build goes smoothly, they never do but.

i hear what your saying about chassis rigidity, prior to the rotor conversion my car will be getting some serious bracing, i beams, seam welding, various under body bracing, full internal cage etc.

I have looked into equal length arms and plugged some numbers and don't believe they are for me. I definately believe there are significant areas where improvements can be made to the rear end of an 86/70 but i don't think equal length arms are the answer. I will be doing a bit of mucking around when the time comes. And will spend up until then doing some good research, a watts linkage will more likely than not be in the mix. Irrelevant to the equal arms debate.

what areas are you thinking need bracing and what are you doing roll center wise.
