Auto one should be able source you one
Just ask them to look up 4age rear gearbox seal, also stick it in fridge to help shrink it and then bash it in with rubber mallet.
Anyone know the part number or where I could buy a new rear oil seal for the T50 gearbox? mine is leaking the precious shockproof oil :o .
Thanks

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (kravit @ Mar 16 2008, 01:30 PM) </div>If you ask for a 4age rear gearbox seal they wont have listing because there were no rwd 4age's released in Australia. Just ask for rear gearbox oil seal for Ae71 or Ae86, don't mention 4AGE or you will confuse them.
By the way if your using that Redline shockproof oil id change back to normal gear oil.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (GZE KE70 @ Mar 16 2008, 12:00 PM) </div>Why is that? Redline oil no good?
We use to use it at work in the Hilux's and well now we are starting to rebuild gearbox's and diffs. Hasn't made any box's last longer than the normal oil filled ones.
We just had Toyota rebuild a box and the report came back that the sychroes were glazed from the oil which made them crunchy, Plus they had a whine.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (GZE KE70 @ Mar 16 2008, 05:48 PM) </div>come to think of it I think the gearbox been kinda notchy lately, but then it could be because I'm losing oil. What oil would you recommend? what do you mean when you said "glazed" are they damaged? how can you deglazed it? It would shit me big time if the expensive oil damage my close ratio box :o
Oh and if anyone need the rear oil seal for the T50 the part number is 97331 from Repco $6.70
Didn't damage the synchroes it just made them slippery and the synchroes use friction to change gear smoothly. Not sure how to take the glaze off with out pulling ti apart but changing the oil probably will do it.
I wont recommend any oil but i will say redline anti shock oil has cost my work thousands of dollars for nothing.
I agree that Redline oil is not good in a new gearbox from my limited experience. If you really want to use Redline oil, use regular gear oil first for 5000km to bed the syncros in.
