    does the camshaft timing need to be altered when goin from injection to carbs?

    It doesn't need to be, but you can alter the engine characteristics by doing so. Possibly for better or worse.

    But for a given set of cams, the manufacturer would specify particular duration irrespective of induction setup.

    I would say that with a stock motor, just line the cams up with the normal marks on the pulleys when you put the timing belt on. Same with either EFI or carbs.
