    What's goin on everyone.

Well i might be picking up a AE86 soon for super cheap. Well the stock 4AC engine has no compression and i was curious what is the easiest and cheapest swap for the AE86? I've been searching all day but can't find what i'm looking for. A lot of the links that i've found haven't been working. From what i've seen though it seems that the 4AGE swap is the easiest. Now i've been on working for cars for a while so i know what i'm doing, i've never dealt with toyotas..i've always been a honda person. Now questions i have if i swap a 4AGE in.

-Can i use the 4AC mounts?
-Will the transmission bolt up fine?
-Can i use the stock Rear End?
    -Wiring..what has to be done?
-Can i run MegaSquirt instead of the stock ECU?
-ohh..and how expensive are parts for these cars? lol

    thanks everyone! Later

    -anthony

the 4AGE 16v rwd is the easiest swap. The trans will bolt up fine although the clutch master will be very near the exhaust (probably use extractors and heat wrap them)

Yes you can use the 4AC mounts

You can use the stock rear end no problems

Don't see why you can't use a MegaSquirt ecu

Don't know about in the USof A but here in aus the mechanical parts are not too bad but panels are getting expensive

Being that your in the US you should be able to find all the parts you need at a local wrecking yard from an AE86 GTS. You could probably find a really rusted out or crashed car and just transfer all the bits over.

I think the use of the MegaSquirt is covered pretty well on

    Thanks bro!

I am worried about how much body panels do cost. The car has some rust on it but the frame is in good shape. I have a friend who is very good at body work so i guess i'm not too worried. What are some tuning options when it comes to the 4AGE? I was looking to boost if the engine can handle it. I still have a lot of researching to do lol.

How much do 4AGE's usually cost? i'm on a time limit to get the car done once i get it.

Ehhh..AE86's are pretty rare where i am in the states. The only one i've seen was an 85 that my dad owned about 15 years ago lol.

you can use a fwd engine, yes.

however the EASIEST swap is using a complete RWD one, with the wiring and everything.

Just jump on the phone and ring some toyota wreckers in your area?
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

    okay thanks!

i'll probably just end up doing that. I don't have the car yet, i'm going to look at it on monday..but i'll probably end up getting it. I just wanted to see what i'm getting myself in to lol.

does anyone know of any websites that sell aftermarket parts for these cars?

Also i see that the 20v has ITB's, can you swap them on to a 16v twin cam?

sorry for all the questions, but thank you everyone for replying!
