Did you have the shifter off the gearbox.???
Sounds like the shifter return spring... Just drop into a small hole on the left side of the of the shifter opening near the front... And yes, you need it...
now that i have your attention, lol
while changing the bellhousing on my rb20(same as SR,CA) gearbox a springs fell out, from what i can gather it was not secured in. the spring is about 20mm long and 5-7mm wide, and very stiff.
i just dont want to put the gearbox back together and it not work. lol
also i think it came from the rear of the gearbox (shifter end)
cheers

there are springs on the outside under 2 or 3 of the bolts! only small bolts
the 2 springs that are under the bolts on the side of the casing near the shifter are in there, this springs is alot stifffer and slightly smaller than these ones.
On your second picture... You will notice that one of the holes where your shifter bolts down is larger than the other...
Spring goes in this hole....
yup. spring in the big hole
should be a ball bearing in there too
k thanks
only checking because on the gearbox the plate is still on there..
ball bearing in first and then the spring on top?
well there was a spring already there..(because the shifter plate was still on)
this mystery spring is same diameter but stiffer.
