    Ok well

    Bare with me,

before you read on, please view the attatched picture

The picture shows 2 seperate wires, or whatever y9ou would call them technically

    with switches on them

i want it so that when the switch on the left closes, the one on the right opens up

so how would i do that? i am not familier with relays so it would be good if someone could explain it in a bit of depth,

ok, what makes this a little harder is that, the way the circuit is put together, as soon as the switch on the right is closed, there will no longer be power going to the left hand side (as the "SWitch" on the left isnt really a switch its more there is power, and there isnt)

so hopefuly u can bare with me, maybe i should try epxlaining it a little different

when there is power going through the left hand side i would like the switch on the right hand side to open.

then comes the problem that as soon as this opens the power will stop on the left hand side because of other parts of the circuit,

is there some sort of relay that can open up the right hand side when the left hand side gets power, but keep the right hand side open for say half a second rather than closeing as soon as the left hand side loses power?

Hopefully one of you people can understand what I'm trying to explain lol,

    thankyou

what do you want to power up or run?

tell me that and i might be able to tell you what you need and also draw you a diagram

you can buy relays that switch from one circuit to another when turned off or on

the wire on the left is the power that would usualy go to a shiftlight globe, and the one on the right is the earthing of the coil

thus effectivly making a BeeR limiter for a carburetted car

in other words when the shiftlight would normally come on i want it to cut the ignition for say half a second

ah i know what you mean

    here is a simple relay:

    [attachment=25647:untitled.JPG]

    what you can try is.

-put an earth to the body on 30
    - the negative side of coil to 87
    - earth to body on 85
    - shiftglobe +ve signal on 86

this setup will PERMANETLY ground the coil, as long as the shiftlight globe is getting a signal.

you will need a heavy duty relay for this.

I'm pretty sure you need a capacitor in the 86 side of the relay to give a short burst of power, ill have to research it more at work.

some other sparkies on here maybe able to shed more light on it and what component I'm missing

yep i think i get what you mean, ive just been doing some research now

sounds like i need one of these babies or similar

with these the relay is activated for a certain amount of time when the voltage is received,

also i was thinking of putting it along that wire that goes from the dizzy to the coil to ground it,

anyway, i havnt yet got a shiftlight
but I'm keen to make this work, my car loves keybangers, and id love to be able to do them mid skid haha
