I've come across 2 for sale in the last 5 years, and very very nearly bought one from VIC. A white one.
They were very ADM looking and had the GTV stickers on the hatch and sides. Would be really cool to have one although you wouldn't want to and slap on a big kit and flare the shit out of the gaurds etc... would be such a waste of a rare car...

I believe they were brought into Australia to comemorate or celebrate The AE86 winning 22 races from 22 starts in it's class one particular year.

That's what I read many many moons ago...

Just a guess. But by the time the AE86 had completed 22 races in Australia, it wasn't 1985 anymore. It was more like 1991 and the AE86 (especialy early ones) had long been out of production as a new car.

Like I said, show us the ID plate. Or some Toyota Australia document.

I'm sure I read some thing like that.

Maybe it wasn't 22 from 22. But they won every race of the season so they brought a bunch in.

I read this when I first caught Hachi Fever a good many moons ago.

Doesn't it mean if they were brought in, the 4age was a factory option, and that you don't need a engineers cert for it?

Maybe, manfacturers often bring in low build vehicles(especially bikes) for homologation reasons(legalise for racing) I have a very rare Honda bike(1 of 232 built) Honda australia got a dispensation from the government to bring 14 bikes into the country(most became race bikes so weren't ADR'd) but the remaining bikes that were registered still had to have an "ADR kit" fitted, which basically just covered some of the ADR's the bike didn't have(lights/speedo etc)
