Default Help choosing 4wd tow car: hilux???

    Hey Guys,

Buying a tow car coz my V8 SS is too low. Only got about 7 grand to spend.

Been looking at a 1994 hilux 3l turbo diesel 4x4. its in the price range and seems to be alright.

Tow specs for them are right too, 2500kg should be good or the stripped rolla.

Just wanna know if there are any issues with these engines besides head issues when they boil over? Or ny other nasties to look out for or signs they are shit.

Or is there a better tow car in that price range that has 4 doors and a ute/wagon back??? maybe even a 2wd???

Those 'Lux's are indestructible, I have one (the 2.8), great for towing and long distance hauls, it just keeps on going forever, don't expect anything resembling performance though..... and I'm looking at doing the 3.0 engine and gearbox/transfer case swap..... Just for the added torques....

The 3.0's gearbox is stronger (than the smaller engines in the same line up), and the oil flow issues over the smaller variants have been resolved, so there's little chance of failure due to lack of oil/oil blockages.

    Get it, you'll love it.
