60= live axle
65= irs
Most parts can be changed to ke/ae parts
Hey guys,
Looking at buying an RA60/65 coupe. Here's a few questions for all you celica experts.
What are the difference's between the RA65 and RA60?
Wanting to transfer bits for my ke eg. camber tops, nrca's coilover kit etc. What parts are compatible from a ke or Ae to an RA?
Is it true that ae86 roll cages fit RA?
Cheers,
Alex

IRS = win
lol at white people in japan. just lol.
ra65 has 2.4L 22re instead of 2L 21rc and irs
it would be better to coilover the celica struts instead of 86 struts to keep the bigger brakes
i wouldnt bother just stick with the rolla, but if you must you want a sa63 or ra65 and look at marvis or my members rides and you'll find what you wanna know.
Well,
RA60:
21RC engine, pretty rubbishy carbie truck motor essentially. Really nothing special.
T-series live axle rear end
W57 gearbox
The front lights tip forward
RA65:
22RE engine, bit better EFI motor essentially. Still nothing amazing (but how many cars came to Australia with an amazing engine).
F-series IRS rear end (pretty shitty design, gives toe issues when lowering, but people get around it[moreso just over it])
W5X gearbox (unsure exactly)
The front lights pop up.
Otherwise they are fairly similar cars. Both are a reasonably good candidate for a 1G conversion as a 1G motor usually bolts into anything with an R motor originally.
Most mechanical & suspension parts for an MA61 will bolt into an RA65, less so on the RA60.
That's some stuff to get you started.
Apparently we also got SA63 coupe's here too, but I've never seen one.
and bump steer like a mother fucker? oh hell no. there is no way to efficient to fix the suspension geometry 100% when you fix one issue it causes others (mainly angles of arms)
i run ra60 struts and rate them as complete and utter rubbish in the handling department, ive bump steered my way into the path of a land cruiser... to give you the low down ever since ive run above average tyres (adrenalines on the front, c drives on the rear) guaranteed the front end will lose traction (skip across the road any given distance) before the rear does
are you running them in an ra60? ajps has rca's coming
there are alot of people using celica struts successfully, maybe it was something to do with the driver...
I'm quite surprised marvis hasn't posted here yet ?
