Hey everyone am about to build a 4agte (surprise surprise lol) was thinking bout putting quads on to get better response but just wanting to know wether there will be benefitial or will the turbo just eliminate the purpose behind the itb?
i know alot of big power gtr skylines switch to single tb so I'm not sure any help would be apreciated.
    Cheers.

well I was warned by a person who worked at Motec that there can be a pressure differential between the two sides of multiple throttles. If your running an airflow meter this would tottaly erradicate this problem. As for the RB guys I will take an educted guess here and say that it woudl firstly be much easier to bolt up a new manifold with a 100mm thottle body than to try and bore out the factory throttles and fit new butterflies. Secondly I think they do it to make tuning easier but hey I could be way off on both these points.

Mate I'm doing it now on my 20v, i just bought a manifold from japan.

But i believe the most trouble would be in getting a manifold to the right specs, then u hav to weigh up cost benefits. And also i wouldn't be doin it if i didnt already have the quads <_<

anyway i'll keep you all posted.

In the latest issue of Kitcar magazine (from the UK), there is an article on a car that has a Silvertop with a supercharger kit on it. The supercharger pumps into an aluminium airbox that encloses the 4 ITB's.

I'll have a look tonight for a website or something that links to it.

Found a link to the airbox to suit the ITB's.

Not a lot of detail, but its doable.

From my experiences, alot of the reason for chaning from ITB's to a plenum, is ease. Easier to unbolt a set of throttles, and bolt on a plenum, that gives more even vacuum and pressure signals, usually easier to work on, and as SamQ said it a lot easier to tune. vacuum tends to fluctuate while cruising in ITB setup especially 4a thottles due to the poor design, of the balance tube, this causes fouled plugs and crap fuel economy, which is really irritating when u have customers coming back every two weeks cause its fouled the plugs and used a full tank in 200km.

But that is only in my experience, i don't know any other reasons for it apart from its a good money maker, couple hundred extra for the part, then labour and usually more tuning, plus shop parts such as vacuum line and fuel line and that crap.
