Default getting air filter legal (ADM with 4age)

Hey I've just bought an unregistered 86 and the only thing holding me back from getting the blue slip is the air filter.
I've been told I need to cover it up (put it in a box or what ever)
has anyone got any ideas on the best way to go I was thinking of moving things around but I would rather get a quick fix and then play around with moving overflow bottle and windscreen water bottle later

theres a tech thread on fitting a VN commondore air box

ive bought said airbox to put in my car, but never got around to it.....

but it requires moving such things as washerbottles.

ive taken a mates 180 through road worthy certificate with a pod filter like yours, but it had a bracket to the body. maybe make a bracket for it and try somewhere else?

I put my 86 thru a rwc with a pod filter like that.
Only thing they wanted is it to be secured. I bent up a piece of steel that tucked under the hose clamp where the filter is clamped to the hose.
Then bolted that to the intake manifold (theres a bolt hole already in the runners that secures the manifold to the block)

In NSW the filter element cannot be visible, and whatever its enclosed in can only be made from plastic. Aluminium boxes are no longer acceptable.

Yeah I really don't know, that's just what I have been told by an engineer.
