yer big port conrods are thicker, i know that much.
so being thicker, im pretty sure that equals stronger.

Ok here goes.
i am ready to do my engine conversion,
i hav turbo and low mount manifold
looking for the best all round 4A engine to turbo to put into my ae86
engine will be freshened up and head will be rebuilt with bigger valve springs and ported port matched and polished.
Q1:i have heard 16v big port the way to go if so what model,
all help appreciated

Best all round motor to turbo is the AE101 4AGZE
Second best all around motor is the AE92 4AGZE
I chose the AE101 over the AE92 because of the slightly higher compression. It has slightly thinner rods than the AE92 version, but this will never be a problem for 90% of people going turbo.
Bigport 4AG, Smallport 4AG, and both 20V's are shithouse for boost in stock form. They'll handle 5-10psi but even then it's only a matter of time before the weak pistons/ring lands/rings die in the ass

is the ae101 4agze all bigport
they are all smallport.
the only bigport 4agze was in aw11, and generally percieved as the worst of the bunch.
ae92 has coils and angle sensor too, if you want to change compression sure all you need is a head gasket witch youl have yo do anyway, from wat ive read the ae92 is that little bit stronger but ul never use these engine to there blowing point,there bulletproof
if you were going to use a silvertop tho, if you went forged pistons and rings, would that be suitable for a t28bb? (mate pulled one off his s15 i might get)
then run between 12 to 17psi
4agze have forged internals stock dont they?
