you obviously don't realise i specialise in subaru performance, and know exactly what they are capable of, and an sti is a hell of alot quicker in a straight line than a 350z, they are a 12sec car in the right hands, as for being unreliable, that solely comes down to the person behind the wheel. In my 6 yrs working, modifying, and maintiaining some of the quickest wrx's in the world, the gearbox is a weak link (not in the case of sti boxes though, i have never seen a sti 6 speed break, not even with over 400hp atw), but when the wanker behind the wheel tries to flat/quick change at 7000rpm, it makes matters worse, don't try tellin me that its not the guy behind the wheel, there's only one way to strip all the teeth of the gears (which is what happens to 99.9% of the boxes) and thats not shifting properly. The only other reliability issue is with oil surge which isn't hard to overcome, and should be addressed if the cars is going to be pushed to and beyond its limit, and this goes for any car that is at the limit. As for the understeer this is also down to how it is driven and set up, and is minimalised with the last 2 series of sti's, people believe this is why subaru's are shit, but a good driver will know how to combat it and will be successful in one.
do you need anymore explanations regarding subaru's?
And as for your "blunt awd instrument" comment, you obviously haven't driven a new sti, its no evo 9, but its not far off.

the 350z is a good car, and it has come along way since the 300zx, but at the end of the day it is a heavy underpowered sportscar imo, and for the same money there is far better cars. It is a nice car and is capable of doing track work, at the end of the day, it was designed as a sports luxuary coupe, not a sportscar.

i believe the 350z, from my impressions driving one, is that they seem to rely on their tyres for alot of their grip, and are pretty sharp for their weight, which isnt that heavy, but heavy enough to piss you off after a while. They do come alive after a few mods though.

To me, if I was making the decision, the lotus wouldnt even cross my mind, i know you have signed it off already.
    It would be a battle between evo8/9/X , s2000, e46, 350z.

I know i wouldt go straight for the evo 9, but i have soft spots for the other cars.

whatever. if you dont like my opinions then dont worry about them.

everyone who ive talked to owning a 350z wished they bought something different for the money they cost. everyone who is trying to make themselves feel their investment in that car is worthwhile keeps wasting money on trying to make it worth while keeping by bumping more power into it.

if you want to drift youre better off buying an s15. if you want a nice daily youre better off buying an s15.
thats if you want to bother with nissans.

i personally like the look 350z's but i would never buy one because there are better cars out there in that price range. the car seems to be aimed at older ladies with cash or middle aged men who dont know how to drive but ant to look good.

i would much rather buy the latest series mx5 or lexus soarer than a 350z

sorta sad but true . the s15 is imo a good buy if you can afford it buy it ... nice as a daily .... heaps of mods available ... can go drifting can do grip ... awesome 6speed gearbox -- in regards to gear ratio.... half the price of both cars .... and resale value pretty good ...the only thing left is do you like the way it looks ?

euro car ... mmmmm m3? all the comfort of the 350z and more plus the rev-i-ness of the lotus ....

no wear and tear of dickheads that don't understand how to shift properly, instead they just mash gears, second gears go, cause the wanker behind the wheel shifts at 7200rpm, I know I've done it a few times. I have seen wrx's driven hard but with someone with half a clue, and pulled the box out for a reco at 150,000km (was a well maintained club car) and the box was fine, plus he wasn't using bullshit sticky redline oil.

I'll take it from your comment that you have seen inside a few wrx boxes, but what you seem to be forgetting is 90% of wrx drivers are little hoons, that think they know how to drive a sports cars, because they got they're licence in a lancer with an exhaust.

Honestly, I don't care what you think of subaru's, I don't like driving them myself, they feel plastic, but I like driving old cars, even silvia's feel like shit imo.

But don't start bagging someone out, and start saying they don't have a clue, when you don't have a clue about their experience, especially when talking subaru's, to someone who has been trained by the best subaru builder in the land if not the world, not bragging, but its something I'm fucking proud of, not many people can say they have played with the worlds fastest subaru.

    Meh i'm over it.

if you gonna go for the 350 or the lotus and its for track, i would go the lotus hands down... those things handle great and handle the track very well!!!

the 350z have problems this their engines, they burn ALLOT of oil... but they are still good for track also
