lotus +10.
Ok, so im weighing up a new daily driver at the moment. Something that I can drive to work every day, (I do 600kms a week). and something I can drive to the track, go racing for the day, and drive home.
So I've narrowed down what I want to a Nissan 350z and a Lotus Elise.
The 350z's cost $35000 to $40000 and the Lotus Elise that I will buy will cost $45000-$48000
In real terms with insurance, the Nissan will cost $170-$190 per week, depending on purchase price.
The Lotus will cost $210-$240 per week.
The lotus is more economical at 8L/100km, the Nissan is 10L/100km, however parts will be more expensive on the lotus. (I do servicing myself.)
I prefer the look of the Lotus to the Nissan, and enjoy the fact that you don't see alot of them on the road.
I have test driven both cars, there both fantastic. The Nissan is smooth yet powerful, and really well balanced and enjoyable to drive, as well as been super comfartable. The Lotus has the raw feel of a racecar yet is still comfortable, though a pain to get in and out of, however when in it, I will smile every time I turn the key. They are simply incredible to drive.
The Nissan is affordable for me, however the Lotus will strech what I'm willing to spend. So based on all that info, what do you guys think?
P.S, I like the 350z's in White, Black and Pewter in that order, The lotus I like in grey.
Here a pic of the Lotus I will get if I decide on it, and one of the 350's I like.
Help me in my decision!
lotus +10.
If you don't mind me asking, what is it you do for a living, to be able to afford such a car at such a young age?
That model Lotus is Toyota powered right? Or is it still on a K-series?
Either way, I'd go for the Lotus hands down. Just for the 'cool' factor.
lotus wins hands down.
racing pedigree while still maintaining a streetable presence (ie not ferarri or lambo and will get scratched).
absolutely no other option if it was me.
i hope u do the right thing haha.
lotus is cool, living with one everday would suck, I hope you got some fat on that ass, cause it'll be sore with in half hour if you don't
Lotus will be noisy, rattily and noisy again
the lotus is a weekend car, the 350 an everyday car, you crash the lotus, its rooted, you chrash the 350 it can be fixed easily.
People will wanna steal the lotus, the 350 is just another car
the lotus is just cool, its not a practical car
350
i dunno why, but thats what i would get if the only cars on offer were the lotus and 350z
Altho i have since found driving what is essentially a race car is a pain to drive every day. Comfort wins hands down.
The z.
350 looks better imho
and cheaper too
agreed with 7OXIN, 350Z would be way more comfy, also if you buy any sort of power up bits, exhaust suspension, body bits you will actually be able to buy plenty off the shelf for the Z. add to that a much cheaper cost of repairs as you will be able to get used parts especially as they get odler, there will be more wrecked. try finding someone who stocks lotus parts, genine only. add to that if you go anywhere in aus you can drop into your local nissan dealer. cant with the lotus.
with the nissan you seem to be getting more for you money, the lotus doesnt seem to me as a 45k car. add to that, with the change left over from not buying the lotus, you can buy a nice set of volks and still have money left to insure it, take a chick to the movies and buy a parking ticket.
how ever as for fun factor nothing would compare to the lotus, a light car, like a modern sprinter. would be a wepon in the hills and fairly quick around the track even in standard form. but from what i hear they have kind stiff susy for a factory car. also a tiny 2 seater (do they even have back seats?) you could probaly even have passengers in the Z. it seems like a hard choice.
350Z best bang for buck.
or... hot used wagon. even more practical but may need some susy for track use. something like a stagea, legum (both 6cyl 4wd turbo) whats that smaller toyota one?
