hi guys... im looking at getting my ae86 into get a tune. wanting to get the idle all fixed up, the cold starts arent the best and its running a little rich. my car has a built 4age with some cams, cam gears, wolf 3d ecu, intake, exhaust, external coils (so no dizzy)

ive been given a rough price of $400 for the job..does that sound right?

anyone from melb got any recommendations of who can tune a wolf well?

    Insert witty comment here....

    $300 to $700.

so sounds like youre onto a winner, as long as they come recommended, so one familiar with wolf's would be better. also make sure theyre familiar with how to make good power with a 4ag. that = not being scared to run a lot of timing advance.

dyno time is always $100/hr at least. plus the tuners time, plus set up. i would never want my car on a dyno unless i have $400 to spend on it, you dont want it rushed, or cut short.

1 other thing make sure the car is 100% ready in all other ways, no leaks, no over heating, everything is tight and ready. it has got to be about the most annoying thing in the world for a work shop to receive a car to be "tuned" when its not even mechanically sound.

yeh u are right.. they guy is recommended by the people that wired up my car.. seems reasonable i guess. they want the car for a few days so he can get the cold start spot on.. im happy to do that if it means they do a thorough job.. need to get the dizzy seal fixed to stop the oil spitting out of it.. but apart from that my car is in good working order..

just need to save the pennies now..!

I'll vouch for slydars and benny's comments, if I have a car on the dyno, and there is even a slight oil leak, or anything of that nature, I pull it off, and will charge for the time wasted, also make sure you have fresh plugs, that are gapped correctly, that really pisses tuners off, get the tune half decent, bring it up for the first full run hits 6k rpm and starts to break down, then they need to dick around with a very hot motor, ends up turning out to be an expensive session usually.
