Go FC.
Hey guys. Im looking at purchasing the D2 Brake upgrade kit for my AE86. I was told i need to purchase 17" rims for my car to use these brakes. Is this true?
Coz i dont like anything over 15s on my car.
Go FC.
i wouldnt trust the d2 brakes to stop my bmx....
get the fc brake upgrade from ajps
isnt the D2 thing like over $3000?
seems a little excessive....
as marvis sais the rx7 FC upgrade seems to be good, i belive AJPS sells the adapting brackets you require, and just buy the calipers and rotors and your set.
(theres plenty of info about the conversion, seems easy enough once you got the brackets)
spend the other 2000$ on something better!!
^^ +1
Don't touch the D2 brakes. Theres a pair of FC calipers for sale in the for sale section. Hit up Dave @ AJPS for some adapters then get yourself some rotors/pads/lines and your sorted, I'm pretty sure Dave can sort you out with everything.
Don't get the D2's Even tho they might be 6 or 8 pot the quality is very flimsy, as the others have said just get the FC upgrade they have worked for many track drivers here so I don't see why it won't suit you, and plus you don't need 8 pot brakes to slow down a car as light as the ae86 even 100 times over. FC Calipers, Civic/Mini cooper disc, caliper bracket, some braided lines good brake fluid and possibly bigger master and you'll be set. This is the way I would go for better braking anyways.
Also most people who purchase these D2 Brakes either have alot of money to waste or for the 'bling' factor of purple anodized alloy, eg there is a guy on youtube who bought some of these and paid $6000NZ. Spend your money on something else which counts.

They are absolute junk.
Go rx7 FC calipers with ajps adapters, speak to dave from AJPS.
RT142 Estate.
AJPS.
werd!!!!!
FC is a great option and so is GTR,
Or you can go the T3 Willwood brake kit. Cost me $1500 landed with this finicial crisis its pretty good in my books.
Only issue with FC cailpers you cant run big dished wheels UNLESS you run spacers.
Make sure you run a Bias adjuster. Best $100-$200 you will spend!
I bought the T3 kit when the dollar was good - just over 1K landed. End result is what brakes should feel like!
