hoon hotline

so yesterday i got up at 5am and left my house to go pick up my brother from melbourne airport as he is visiting melbourne. i started my car and drove out my house and street and headed to the airpot.

today i saw some coward left a note on my car threatening to call the hoon hotline because its too loud and other threats towards me, but no name, photo of them, phone number or anything. so i am unable to discuss the situation calmly with that person.

anywhoo, would like to hear about my rights if they did call the hoon hotline. can i just deny and the person has nothing on me ?

how does the reporting work in regards to proof and other things ??

would like to hear any info. thanks guys.

The Russian Communists got very good at this. People were reporting on their neighbours and relatives for all sorts of things...

i dont think you have anything to worry about, though it is funny that because your car seems "loud" it classifys you as being a hoon. bloody stereotypes

I heard a story recently about an elderly lady who drives an old Renault, where some douchebag reported her to the EPA 'cos her car was puffing a little bit of smoke.

i will admit my mr2 is pretty loud.... but nothing outragous.

if i were to accelerate hard from 0 to 50kmh surely that is not "hoon hotline worthy" ?

I had a similar thing happen to me at my old place. No warning note though just dobbed in. I just got sent a letter and then got rang up a couple weeks later.

"hi this is officer blah, just calling to let you know we had a complaint about your driving"

"yep I got the letter"

"well it seems your car wasn't registered at the time, if you'd been pulled over you would be in trouble"

"I'd renewed it on the net and had the recipt no. with me"

sweet.... would be nice to cut down some police academy failures who like to sit at home and report cars.

so if they report me, just tell the truth and say "no didnt do anything bad, the person must have a grudge" or something like that lol ?

yeah pretty much tell em you had to get to the airport early in the am and about the note. I'd mention that there wasn't anyone you could go talk to about it - if you're reasonable they'll be.

I'd imagine they'd have lots of calls from grumpy old dicks.
