hey mate, thanks for the kind words.

my build thread was sorta deleted on the old forums. heres some pics though. the parkers on my car are just the standard ke70 ones. its not that clean in person unfortunately. the camera phone pics seem to blur the dodgy bits

heres a close up of it (few years ago now, before i painted it)

and heres behind the grill etc. (also a few years ago...)

hey mate sorry for the late reply.

are you referring to the inside head lights?

i have them hooked up to highbeam only, via a relay triggered off the high beam from the outside lights.

so on low beam i only have the outside lights on, then on high beam they outside lights flick to high beam (they are H4) and the inside lights turn on. so thats 4 bulbs on high beam. i burn holes in trees.

    right progress report!

yesterday was a very productive day, i installed an internal lift pump! it is quite possibly the best thing i have done to my car!!!

    i followed this:

very excellent tech article. i recommend it.

here is a pic of the pump, i pulled it out of the box and thought it was far to small, but apparently this can supply enough fuel for 300hp+ so its good enough for me.

and no that is not a real DB9.

right now i picked up another fuel thing from the wreckers, so i could just swap it over after building it.

i ended up taking the tank thing to the local hydraulics shop, and got them to silver solder soem 5/16 barb fittings to all the pipes. i HIGHLY recommend this, no more leaks. the standard pipes are just to small for 5/16 hose (standard size for fuel pumps). though these barbs made it almost too tight! needed a bit of oil to actually get the pipes on.....

i also got them to flair the pipe where the pump was connected to. also recommended.

anyway here is a dodgy pic of the barb fittings.

right now, i had to drill a hole for the electrical connection, and of course i broke the little clip that holds it in on the VL, so what better thing to do, than fill it up with araldite!!!

and here is my dumming up of the pump, fits real good, the pipe is a tad small for the rubber hose you get with the pump, but the flaring takes care of this.

unfortuntely i was to excited to take a pic of the completed product before i put it into the tank. but it looked something like this (stolen from that tech article)

and here it is all installed.

    the verdict?

    ITS INCREDIBLE.

i am using this pump to feed my surge tank, and then a bosch070 feeds the engine. i cannot hear ANY noise at all from both the pumps. i used to be able to hear the noise after a longish drive, but there is absolutely no noise at all. i took it for a drive for about 45mins today, and the pumps were silent the whole time.

so all in all yesterday was an incredibly productive day!

nice, i did exactly the same thing with my old 4age and standard ke70 tank setup,
i used a bosch r31 skyline in tank pump to feed my surge tank, overkill but it worked.
Soon as you take load off your main pump it quietens down heaps,

after i put an 044 in it was still noisy though but made me feel happy in the pants.

its just another one of those reliability things that work well, in that above pic there is way too much wiring in there, you want pretty much a dead straight line of wire, not too much of a biggy but petrol makes the wiring harden, and when your fuel slops around it makes it flex and creates minute cracks all through the insultation after 3 months even.

Another one of those piece of mind things, if yours is uber long i wouldnt even worry about it.

    thanks drift ke70!

and yer on my setup i cut the wires very short, so they were only just long enough to reach (prolly 120mm of wire or so). im not sure why the guy in the tech article didnt cut his short. i think maybe because he used the standard clips on the connector thing, where on mine i cut them short and soldered them on.

ive also recenetly put a fuel pressure guage in my engine bay (trying to diagnose that problem i had when the engine would break down after 20mins). and with the old setup the fuel pressure would vary 1-2psi continually, but with this new pump in there the pressure is rock solid which im fairly happy about.

well it has been a month? so what have i achieved??

well not a lot, however.....the ae86 front end conversion is into its final stages!

thanks to mr mr2drift i picked up a set of jap brakes, adm steering arms, coilovers, stuffed TRD shocks, 10k springs...ae86 top hats. for a very reasonable price, much appreciated again josh.

    as can be seen here...

now the 10kg springs will hopefully be sold as i will be getting some 6kg.

when i can afford it i shall be purchasing a pair of bilstein shocks, cant wait for that.

i have a pair of 40mm RCA's in the post as well, should get here soon.

a few new bushes will be ordered to keep everything tight.

i will just use my s13 camber tops for the top of the coilovers, so a bit of saving there.

i took my calipers to wynnum mastercylinder exchange service, for new pistons (Stainless steel), new seals everywhere, sand blasting and a coat of paint. and $242 for the pairthey look like this. ohh so shiny...

another thing on the list will be a pair of those T3 steering arms, to get some quick steering. i know i am going to miss my lightning fast s13 steering (as well as my ability to u-turn on a dime) but im told ae86 is the way to go, and im going for a more legal setup...

i intend on giving everything a coat of paint to make it look spiffy before it all goes back together!

ive also picked up an ae86 OEM lsd, for a rather decent price, so i shall be on the lookout for a t18 diff, but thats a while away yet...

    cheers mate

bit of an update, installed some new trailing arm bushes yesterday, no idea on brand, got them off my mate, they are red...and were a pain to get in.

but daym they tightened everything up nicely. should have done that years ago!
