always have liked your car dave keep it going!
right so i thought it was about time i made a bit of a thread for the blue ke70.
ive had this thing for almost 3years.
started off looking like this.
bought from some oldish dude down at the gold coast for a $495 including delivery to my house in brisbane, it used to have an ae86dc sticker on the drivers side back quater window....so maybe someone on here knows some more history.....
took me a week to get it into roadworthy condition, and got a legitimate roadworthy on the 3rd attempt....
that picture was taken on its first outing..where it broke down....so that was great.
anyway so over the years its been worked on, and now sports the following:
Exteriour
>"conversion" to flat front
>home job respray in its orignal ke70 blue (was pressure canned white over the top when i got it)
>rt114 corona quad lights, $40 worth, hacked up to fit in.
>a kamai plastic/FRP front lip, apparnetly designed for a subaru leone...
>T18 bumpers, with ae82 indicators hacked up to fit in the front since i coudlnt find any t18 ones, perfect fit though.
front suspension
>s13 front end with CA18 (250x18mm) slotted rotors
>JIC coilovers with 8kg springs, looking for new softer setup though
rear suspension
>343113 HQ? monaro shocks
>cut down AU springs
>whiteline panhard rod
engine accessories
>16V jap bigport, running jap computer,
>factory headers and secondarys, 2.25" exhaust with a highflow cat, resonator and a nice decent muffler out the back. sounds quite good, a bit loud on the highway.
> thermo fan with programable temperature settings (jaycar kit)
>still to install my surge tank setup that is on my desk, currently jsut an external fuel pump running the show.
> standard ke diff....
interiour + gadgetry
>central locking
>alarm system with a few points of imobilisation
>nardi classic steering wheel with uber long boss kit
>recaro drivers seat, standard ke rails adapted to fit it, damn comfortable.
>decent VDO water temperature guage fitted and adapted into standard dash. looks stock.
>cd player/speakers/sub for enjoying tunes.
right now onto pictures
and a dodgy interiour shot
and an arty shot i just took, 15secs of exposure!
always have liked your car dave keep it going!
Same as the guy above me. I really like this car. The only thing I would have different it it was mine would be to lose the lip with the quad lights, or keep the lip with a square front. But It is your ride and there to make you happy so I'm all for that.
Other than that, very impressed
Any other plans for it?
cheers guys!
yer ive thought of putting some square lights in, if some come up cheap i might have a go. ive still got the slanty front radiator support in there, so will be custom job again (Cant be stuffed changing rad supports..). and since i never had the square lights i just went straight from the slanty front to this. i also love the epic amount of light that 4 x 6" bulbs put out the other thing in i had these quads in when hardly anyone had quads, now EVERYONE has them, the novelty has warn off...
i hear ya on the front lip, but it does grow on ya! i hated it at first and almost ripped it right off, but each time i saw it i liked it a bit more. and its something different i guess. i orignially just had a garden edging lip on there, and when i took that off it looked a bit bland and boring. and i dont like those chin spoilers so i thought id give this a go. best part is ive smashed it heaps of times on gutters and driveways and since its plastic it just bends back!
got a few plans up my sleeve, bit of a list...
-new coilvoers for the front with damper adjustment and extra length to get more suspension travel.
-need to get some new bushes for most of the bushes in the car, not looking forward to changing them!
-and i really would like an LSD.... but damn cost to much! will get one eventually.....
but for now i just enjoy driving it around. still got a few 4age teething issues, need to wire up a speed sensor to get the most from my jap ecu, so thats another job as well.....
thanks for the kind comments!
btw blinded if your car is the one im thinking of i really like yours too!
wat u doin with the old coilovers. ill by them.
and also the quad light setup
P.S its Rodneys friend with the yellow ke70
nice car Dave, i like the pic of it at night.. the tail lights look sick!..
haha hey man, trying to pilpher my parts!
haha already got someone keen on them if i find some good ones to buy.
and re lights, theres plenty at the wreckers down at boss!
cheers mate!
Haha I highly doubt you'd be thinking of my car. It is a very nothing-special car to say the least. I'd be almost certain that you'd be thinking of maybe Adams? blue KE. It is 4AGE powered and looks much better, much better.
Mate, I'm sure if you do intend on going flat front, you should be able to find yourself a square front setup for next to nothing. But at the same time, the time and money put toward the quad lights, I'd keep them. Even if the novelty factor has worn off, atleast you and others know that yours was one of the first to have them. And like you said, 4 x 6" bulbs > than dodgy stock flat front ones
Glad to hear you enjoy driving it, 4AGE must be fun. Hope the teething issues can be sorted soon enough. Nothing worse than having engine problems, especially in a daily.
I really like this thing. The front looks mean
That arty shot is cool. Looks like there is a bush fire in the background lol
Good work David.
yep i was thinking of adam, im sure your car is cool as well, all ke's are cool! (well most...) got any pics of yours? a members ride thing up yet?
i could buy some late model/aftermarket "crystal" square bulbs for the flat front, which would make the headlights really good, but i think it might look a bit to modern for the ke...meh see how we go!
thanks dom for the kind words!
