    Default 20v B/T ecu problems

    Hi there,

I'm currently have a problem with the 20v bt I have recently had put in my 86.
After having the wiring totally re-tested and the timing checked, the engine is still craps itself through the mid range.

until recently I have been told that you can't run a standard computer after it's been converted to RWD because of map sensor problems?

If so would something like a microtech computer solve this?

Any info or idea's would be great?

    Cheers

I was running indervidual coils but switched back to dizzy. I've heard of people running 20v's standard ecu but not sure how they do it.

Whoever told you the MAP sensor thing is talking out their ass - it doesn't matter if it was mounted FWD, RWD, in a boat, or upside down - the map sensor still gets its' reading from the same place.

As SamQ said, check your error codes by bridging TE1 and E1 when the key is at the 'on' position with the engine not running. Then check/tell us how many times your warning light flashes.

Use that if you aren't running toyota coils. That'll get rid of the standard coil and ignitor arcing away at nothing.

Have you cracked the ecu casing too have a look inside, seen somewhere on club4ag, many people complaining of very hard to find problems only to learn some capacitors are busted on the inside.

Even my old 16v one died as a result of burnt capacitors and it killed the engine too.

Nah, speed sensor only causes a slightly lower redline. I have confirmed this
