there should be a big fat 3-4mm wire coming off the alternator. This goes to batt B+
Assuming thats done, start her up and get a multi meter on there. It should read higher than 12.6 more like 13-14volts
Not sure if im posting in the right spot but my battery in my car keeps dieing even thought the battery and alternator have been replaced very recently due to this problem. There is one wire coming off the alternator that i think is an earth but cant see anywere for it to go. I have had a look at my mates corolla to try and see and i couldnt even see this wire on his. If anyone can help me it is greatly appreciated. Cheers Troy

not 100% but i think there is a terminal on the back of the alt that gets some b+ power.
did you get a multi meter?
B+ is battery positive
Put multi meter on battery get a reading. Then start it up and put battery on the alternator, you only need to put the red stick on the terminal with the big fat wire on it. groud black to chassis.
While its running whack the multi meter on the battery again and see if its changed.
I'm pretty sure they come with instructions.
I was actually trying to be helpful. My point was that it's really not at all difficult to find out how to use a multimeter. Oh, and you don't have to be an electrician to use one.
Good luck with it.
